BETA Club Begins Fourth Quarter With A Bang

Reporter Andrew Casteneda

Gloucester High School’s BETA Division held Motivational Monday on April 8, encouraging students to stay strong and focused in our final quarter of the year. Morale was boosted and the common monotony of school was broken for the first day back.

Motivational Monday was a great way to get students amped up for the week. It provided students with a boost for the coming weeks. Not only was it good for student morale but it also provided service projects for BETA members.

In the morning, wheelmen of the GHS Student Parking were greeted with the words “WELCOME BACK” emblazoned in red solo cups placed in the links of the fence facing the school. At the front door, Gloucester Duke red, black, and gold colored bead necklaces were freely distributed with a smile. In the halls: morale decor galore. One poster proudly presented a Nike logo, accompanied by the words, “MOTIVATION CHECK”.

Other posters said things about how close the end of the year was, urging students to perform at their highest academic excellency.

“It was all very welcoming,” says Sophomore Josie Chaffin. “I could tell the people behind Motivational Monday put some real time and effort into giving us a warm welcome.”

“Sure motivated me,” Junior Jesse Starcher cooly stated. “Might I say, my performance has been increased substantially since then and I’m not quite sure why.”

“I really liked the beads,” Freshman Braxton Thomas said. “They gave me a new hunger for intelligence. I was ready for whatever they had to throw at me that day.”

“I was confused, but I liked it.” Junior Karley Ross said with a smile.

All in all, BETA Club’s Motivational Monday was a warm, generous feat, providing a comfortable fade in back to the strenuous workload of fourth quarter. Appreciation should be issued to all BETA members involved.
