On September 16th, PlayStation released a new trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, as well as a gameplay demo. I am not a fan of Marvel, but even I can’t lie that this game is amazing, and I would play it myself if I had the chance. The game is supposed to pick up where the last one left off, but it seems that you can play it without knowing any background knowledge of lore, or even the Marvel Universe. Along with this, the gameplay looks very smooth. During the cutscenes, it looked as if I was watching a movie with real people, and not a video game trailer. However, when the actual gameplay happened and a real human took control of the character, it looked just like a classic video game. Another thing I liked about this was the scenery. In one section, they were in a faire with lights, snow, and puddles on the ground. They made it look very realistic, with the way the snow fell on the characters, to how the light refracted off the water on the sidewalk. Finally, the fighting mechanics were stunning. With most games with numerous powers you can use, it gets jumbled and confusing, and most often players only end up using one skill that they can master and get the hang of. However, with this game, the fighting mechanics seem to blend in and get smooth, with each power working with the other with combos and skills. The web slinging skill looks very fluid and nice in the gameplay demo, and it works together with the electricity. The only power that is slightly out of place is the invisibility, which is mostly used for sneaking behind people. I can only see someone who is more of a stealth type using this, as it isn't really handy in the heat of battle. In conclusion, the game looks very good -- maybe even worth the fifty dollars it takes to buy it -- and I myself would most definitely play it relentlessly.
