On December 5, The Dukes Wrestling Team start the season undefeated against Lafayette and Menchville. The tournament was held at Menchville at 6 pm.

Start of the season: Coming back from a good season, the dukes are trying to become district champions. Their first tournament was at Menchville on December 5th. They faced off against Lafayette and Menchville for the start of the season. For the first part of the tournament the dukes faced off against Lafayette. The first two matches of the tournament, sophomores Daniel Mctavish and Makenna Nuttall won by pin, giving the dukes a lead. The tournament was getting very close between Gloucester and Lafayette.

The final match came down to junior Douglas Pruim to win the tournament for the dukes. This is what Douglas had to say about the pressure going into the final match.” Oh yeah definitely, I didn’t want to lose”. Going into the match Pruim was able to beat his opponent and gave the dukes a win against Lafayette.”I’m glad to help the team with the win,'' said Douglas Pruim after the match.

After defeating Lafayette, the dukes faced off against Menchville. Menchville started in the lead, but the dukes were able to prevail and win the whole tournament. During a match, junior Josh Kuehn slammed a kid and the kid landed awkwardly and hurt his shoulder. The referee almost disqualified Kuehn, but he soon realized the kid tried to move his shoulders awkwardly when Kuehn lifted him up and slammed him. Thankfully Kuehn only got hit for illegal slam then later won his match.

The wrestlers who went undefeated throughout the tournament were Josh Seaton, Austin Glockner, Ethan Baker, Ethan Parr, Ashton Flaherty, and Douglas Pruim.”It feels good being undefeated,” said sophomore Josh Seaton. This years wrestling season is looking bright for the Dukes and hopefully will be winning more tournaments throughout the season.
