Coachella 2019 Starts With a Bang

California music festival unleashes new surprises and a lot of fun in the valley

This weekend marks the second week of Coachella, the California music festival. The festival features some of the biggest artists around with celebrity appearances from Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, Hailey Baldwin, and many more.

During the first weekend an explosion was heard on sight. Many of the festival-goers shared videos of the fire on social media. The explosion was thought to be from one of the campgrounds as people were reported to be seen leaving the shower blocks in a panic. After the first night of the concert people woke from their sleep due to the fire as some report that it was less than 60 feet away from their tents. The California Fire and Riverside County Fire Department were called and tweeted the following "2:28 am - Fire Contained. Mobile Shower Unit in Lot 8 Storage Area. Total of 2 trailers involved. 1 damaged, 1 destroyed. No reported injuries to fire personnel or civilians. Fire crews will remain on scene for 1 hour for overhaul. #Coachella".

The first night of the concert featured performances from Janelle Monae and Childish Gambino, with guest appearances from Cardi B and Selena Gomez. The fire was reported to start during DJ snake’s set somewhere around midnight.

The first weekend was a success besides the fire with performances from Childish Gambino, Hurray for the Riff Raff, A R I Z O NA, Bazzi, Weezer, Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, and many more. Along with the performances the ferris wheel and other activities such as the shops and food are big attractions. There has not been nearly any bad reviews of the festival besides the fire.

Weekend two starts Friday April 19th with performances from Childish Gambino and Los Tucanes de Tijuana. Saturday there will be performances featuring Tame Impala, Billie Eilish, Juice WRLD, and Wiz Khalifa. The weekend will rap up on Sunday the 21st with performances from Ariana Grande, Gucci Gang, and Playboi Carti, along with many others.

The festival has gained a lot of popularity with the explosion and special celebrity appearances. Many celebrities have posted pictures from the event on instagram or tweeted about it. The festival is a promised success and is guaranteed to bring in a lot of profit, while providing festival-goers with an exciting and memorable experience.
