The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, January 26th, 2020.Out of around 50 awards, Billie Eilish took home 5.

This is Billie Eilish’s first time being nominated for a grammy, for song of the year, record of the year, album of the year, best new artist, best pop/vocal album, and pop solo performance.

Eilish was 17 when nominations were announced, making her the youngest artist in history to be nominated for all four major categories at once. Winning all of them makes her the youngest person to win the top four categories.

Eilish blew up this past year, her debut studio album “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” became the best-performing album of 2019. Six of the fourteen songs on the album reached Billboard’s Hot 100 top 40 singles.

With fame however, comes hate. Eilish, being one of the biggest pop stars right now, faces an enormous amount of backlash.

In her acceptance speech for song of the year, Eilish apologized for winning. “Oh my god. So many other songs deserved this. I’m sorry.”

While the winner of Album of the Year was being announced, Billie was spotted pleading, “Please don’t be me, please” seconds before her name was called.

She is now also the youngest winner for Album of the Year with chart-topping “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” The record was previously set by Taylor Swift with “Fearless” in 2010.

The nominees for album of the year were Bon Iver, Lana Del Ray, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Lizzo, and Vampire Weekend.

While accepting the award, Eilish sheepishly said, “Can I just say that I think Ariana deserves this?”

“I didn’t think we would win this.” her brother adds, “We just make music in a bedroom together. We still do and they let us do that. And this is to all of the kids making music in your bedrooms today. You’re going to get one of these.”

Eilish dedicates her awards to her fans. She says “I feel like they have not been talked about enough tonight because they’re the only reason any of us are here at all.”
