SAT/ACT

Many schools have gone test optional for applicants. UCs and CSU no longer require test scores and are officially test-free. See more info on the UC and CSU Info pages. Other schools have also made temporary or permanent changes to testing requirements for applicants. See the most updated list at FairTest.org

Know Your Test Policies!

Each college campus decides their own test policies. This test policy is what tells you if you need to submit an SAT or ACT test score with your application or not. Make sure you understand the policy for any schools you are considering before you begin working on that application.

What is the difference between SAT & ACT?

Universities typically accept the ACT and SAT as equal and will post score ranges for both from accepted student data.

Sending SAT Scores

Sending scores to CSU: Use code 3594
(Test scores are only used by CSU for math/English placement, and will not be considered for admission.)
This code will send your scores to any CSUs you applied to. It should say California State University Apply, Long Beach. Alternately, if you list a CSU campus(es) as an SAT score report recipient, your scores will automatically be sent to all campuses to which you've applied.

Sending scores to UC: Send to one of your campuses
(Test scores are only used by UC for math/English placement, and will not be considered for admission.)
If you send your scores to one UC campus, it will send them to all your UCs.

Sending scores to private or out-of-state schools: Look up the college code online
After you log into your account to send scores, you will be able to look up each school.

Sending scores to NCAA: Use code 9999
(Test scores are not required for students enrolling in collegiate athletics for the 22-23 school year. Future years have not yet been announced. More info: http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/COVID-19_Spring2023_Public.pdf)
If you are registered with the NCAA, you should check on the test score requirement for your year of college enrollment
