CSU Info
The CSU application is typically open Oct 1 to Nov 30. There is one application for all 23 campuses, although each campus requires a separate application fee. To complete this application, make sure you have a copy of your transcript on hand. Info here: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply

CSU Course Entry Guide: Entering Coursework in the Application for 4x4 Schedule
What "semester term" do I use? My transcript shows quarter grades. Do I choose quarter system?
No! Use “semester term” for our A-G courses.** Although you are receiving grades quarterly, you are only receiving two grades per class taken so they are considered semester courses (we just do 4 semesters a year!).
**There are a couple exceptions to this from the 20-21 & 21-22 school years. If you see a course on your transcript that has 4 final grades weighted at 2.5 credits each, please make an appointment with me for additional support in entering these course grades.
Which courses do I enter?
Enter the courses that have a "p" next to it. This means it is a college-prep course and has been approved with the CSU and UC system as an A-G course. For most students this will be almost all your courses except for your PE courses and perhaps one or two elective courses that are not approved (e.g., sewing, yoga).
What do I enter for senior year? Do they care about my schedule this year?
Yes! Enter your complete class schedule for the 12th grade year, including spring semester. The colleges continue to communicate they want to see all your planned courses for senior year. They need to make sure you are completing your A-G requirements, and they want to see what course selections you will complete by the end of the year as these factor into their admissions review. They are especially checking for additional A-G courses taken over the minimum, and, for some majors, specific coursework completed by graduation.
The CSU application shows "Fall" and "Spring" for grade entry. How do I enter my grades on our 4x4 schedule?
Quarter 1 and quarter 3 are considered “Fall.” Think of fall as Grade 1 for all your courses. If entering now, Q1 (Semester 1) would be entered as “In Progress,” and Q3 (Semester 1) would be entered as “planned.” If entered after final grades post for Q1, then you can enter your grade for Q1 classes in Semester 1.
Quarter 2 and quarter 4 are considered “Spring.” Think of spring as Grade 2 for all your courses. If entering now, Q2 (Semester 2) and Q4 (Semester 2) would both be entered as “Planned.” If entered during Q2, then Q2 would be “In Progress.”
How do I enter Gov & Econ?
Gov and Econ are 1 quarter courses on our campus. This means you will receive just one final grade for each course.
If you are taking Gov/Econ this fall, you will enter your first quarter course as "In Progress" for "Fall" (Grade 1) and then "No Course" for "Spring (Grade 2). You will enter the other course as "No Course" and then "Planned."
If you are taking Gov/Econ in the spring, you will enter your third quarter course as "Planned" for "Fall" (Grade 1) and then "No Course" for "Spring (Grade 2). You will enter the other course as "No Course" and then "Planned."
If you are taking AP Gov or AP Econ, enter those just like your other full-length courses.
I can't find ERWC in the auto-populated courses. How do I enter this course?
ERWC is called CSU Expository Reading & Writing in the CSU Application. Type in "CSU" and it should come up!
Some of the courses have multiple options? How do I know which one to choose?
Some of our courses have two listings because there is an in-person option and an option for students who may have retaken the course through our Edgenuity credit recovery option. Edgenuity courses typically have an "a-g" as part of the course title. Do not choose this course title unless you took the online credit recover option.
EXAMPLE:
Rancho transcript: Biology
CSU options: Biology 1 or Biology a-g
Choose "Biology 1" for the in-person course on our campus.
Choose "Biology a-g" if you took the Edgenuity online credit recover course.

CSU High School Course Requirements (“a-g” courses)
The CSU requires a minimum 15-unit pattern of courses for admission as a first-time freshman. Each unit is equal to a year of study in a subject area. A grade of C or better is required for each course you use to meet any subject requirement.
Admissions Requirements
Highlights are below and more info available on their CalState Apply site.
PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/Pages/first-time-freshman-guidance.aspx
The CSU will consider course grades of “credit” or “pass” as fulfilling “a-g” requirements for those courses completed during Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall 2020 terms and during Winter, Spring or Summer 2021 terms. All other coursework must be graded and a grade of C- or better must be earned for the course to satisfy “a-g” requirements. Grades of credit/pass or no credit/no pass will not be included in the calculation of high school GPA.
The CSU strongly recommends that ALL students enroll in a yearlong senior-year English course and a mathematics/quantitative reasoning course as student-specific
California residents and graduates of California high schools will be eligible for admission by earning a 2.50 or greater “a-g” GPA.
Any California high school graduate or resident of California earning a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49 may be evaluated for admission by some campuses.
The CSU is now TEST FREE. NO SAT or ACT scores are required. Some campuses may have adjusted the minimum gpa requirement or may use additional factors for admission. See this page for specifics on each campus factors, or check in with Ms. Hazlewood!
