Who was Fredricka Douglass Sprague Perry?
Other than a mouthful, she was a former student and philanthropist who became a part of RIT's Action Plan for Race and Ethnicity, after finding out in recent years that Nathaniel Rochester was a slave owner RIT decided to change the building's name from Nathaniel Rochester Hall to Fredricka Douglass Sprague Perry Hall, or shorthand DSP.
Nathaniel Rochester Hall was originally built in downtown Rochester but the name carried over when the move to Henrietta came and changed to DSP in the year 2023.
