James Gleason was the son of William Gleason, the founder of Gleason Works. Gleason works as the leading producer of bevel gear machinery. James Gleason was the president of the company for 25 years(1922-1947). James Gleason was on the RIT Board of trustees from 1899-1964 and he was a very enthusiastic supporter of RIT's move to its Henrietta campus.
