What should parents and students expect as semester 2 begins?
Students will receive new connections classes if they had semester-long courses. Year-long courses (Band, Orchestra, Chorus, JLC) will remain the same. Requests for changes in connections schedules cannot be honored.
Students will remain in their same Academic 1 class that they had first semester until after iReady testing is complete. This diagnostic assessment shows us your student's academic needs. Schedules for Academic 1 classes may change after that time depending on iReady scores.
All grades start over as semester 2 begins. Report cards for semester 1 will be mailed home by the district office beginning the week of January 13th.
Unscheduled digital learning days and full-day cancellations due to inclement weather usually are announced by 6 a.m. Once a decision is made, the district posts the announcement about school closures on the GCPS website, GCPS TV, and the district's Facebook page. GCPS also notifies metro-Atlanta news outlets and alerts families with a phone call and optional text message via ParentSquare. (Families must request the text feature.)
