Intramural Free Agent Information
HOW TO BECOME A FREE AGENT
Thank you for your interest in playing Intramural Sports at Emporia State!
What is a “Free Agent”? A Free Agent is a Recreation Services Member that would like to play Intramural Sports but may not have enough students/members to create a full team. Becoming a Free Agent is a great way to get involved on campus while also staying active and competing in sports/activities.
The Intramural Program does not guarantee that Free Agents will be placed on a team, however a Free Agent List is made available for teams interested in acquiring more players. Those individuals who sign up on the Free Agent List are encouraged to attend the Captain’s Meeting. At this time, teams in need of players and players in need of a team are offered the opportunity to contact one another in person. The Intramural Sports Program also creates a Free Agent Team prior to the league kicking off. If enough Free Agents sign up to create a full roster, the team will compete together as a group throughout the entirety of the season.
The Free Agent List can be found on IMLeagues.com. Participants on this list are allowed to “Request” to join teams. Captains will be notified once this has been completed.
It is suggested to “Request” to join teams that have not met the minimum player requirement or have a lower number of team members.
Free Agents are also given the opportunity to list reasons on why they should be picked up. This can include their experience level, previous positions in the sport or why they hope to join a team.
Remember, playing intramural sports isn’t only about competition but instead having fun and meeting new students on campus!
Teams that know they need additional players are suggested to check “Looking For Free Agents” during the team registration process. This will help teams meet the minimum player requirement as well as get all free agents on a team’s roster.
