News for Savannah staff
October 6th, 2024
WOW! We have seen some amazing work in your small groups. Check out the posted learning targets in each of these groups. Well done Hart, Cruz, Tesar, Pippin, and Nagy!
Wonderful Staff--
We have a LOT happening this upcoming week, but we also have a THREE DAY WEEKEND!!! As you are powering through the end of our first nine weeks, make sure you congratulate yourself for the work you have done. You have more than earned that extra day off.
What Is Expected of Me This Week
REPORT CARD INPUT IS DUE BY 4:00 PM October 11th. Team Leads please tag up with your new team members and make sure they have understanding on all the required input fields. Admin and intervention will be checking for any missing line items.
Our Extended PLCs are this week for 5th, 3rd, and 1st. We will check in on WIN time and track progress on each team's SMART goals. Please make sure you have your data and agendas ready to go, and you have added your students of concern to the Kid Talk form. Formal MTSS meetings will begin soon and we need to show what we have done for our students so far.
HALF DAY On October 11th, plan to meet in the library as usual. We will meet together to set up our time, and then break up for planning.
As always, update your Reading Tracker before your PLC day. Remember our goal is for students to make at least a years growth in reading. Start progress monitoring your students. Linked are the running records forms we will use this year: Fiction & Non-Fiction.
Birthday-gate: Please check Year at a Glance to see if your birthday is listed correctly. If it is not, please let me know via email.
The Gallup Staff Engagement Survey is OUT!!! We are at 57% participation. We need 100%. Team Leads please poll your team and see who hasn't filled it out!
The purpose of the survey is to measure our staff's engagement in the work we are doing here at school.
Once the survey results come back, the Guiding Coalition will meet to distribute and explain the survey results. We look at what was reported item by item. We then use the data to select the items we will work on over the next twelve months.
The Guiding Coalition checks in on our progress over the year to see how we feel about the progress on our goals. Last year we CRUSHED our goal for "Understanding What is Expected of Me At Work." This year we are targeting "Opportunity to Do My Best EVERY DAY." We will see our progress on this work and revise our plans as needed.
We need 100% participation in this survey. If EVERYONE responds, our Guiding Coalition will choose a week for our campus to have workout wear every day. We want to hear from you!

Still Important from Last Week...
A word about CONFERENCES: Denton ISD asks that teachers plan a parent conference for every student performing below level (K-2 according to the literacy packet and/or PNA; 3-5 two or more years behind in iReady reading and/or math, or a year or more below grade level according to F and P). If you have questions about who needs conferences we can discuss during PLC. We like to complete conferences by the end of October. Keep a sign-in sheet to show which families showed up.
TEACHERS: Make sure you have signed up for your TTESS observation. You should have gotten an email from me, Norris, or Espinoza. We are trying to get TTESS complete by the end of October or first part of November at the latest.
Did you turn in your vouchers?!!! We need your science kit voucher! Please look in your science consumable kits for the VOUCHER pictured below. We need the voucher turned into ESTON by the end of the week so that we can schedule ordering the live specimens.
Our Teaching and Learning Department (Formally Curriculum and Instruction) wants to visit science lessons. Are you willing to show off your science instruction? Sign up here.
Find this voucher in your HMH Science Consumable kit. Turn the voucher into Eston by Friday, October 11th.
Add the Savannah Calendar to Your Outlook Calendar
The Savannah Calendar will be updated each month with important dates everyone needs to know. This will enable you to see your personal calendar in one color and Savannah_Calendar events in another. It also prevents us from having to send out invitations for every event. It will just automatically add it to the calendar without it being accepted.
Please use the directions to the right to add Savannah_Calendar to your calendars in Outlook. These directions show how to add to Outlook in the desktop version. To add in Outlook on Office 365, click "Add Calendar," Search for "Savannah_Calendar" and then add.
If you see something that needs to be added to the Savannah_Calendar group calendar or a mistake that needs to be corrected, please let Holt know.
Greetings from the Gator Community Committee! We have exciting plans for this year and need your support.
We kindly ask each salary teacher to contribute $20 and each paraprofessional to contribute $10 as part of the Sunshine Dues by Friday, October 11th. If you're able to contribute earlier, that would be wonderful! You can give me (Hart) cash or Venmo me at @JenniH12. If using Venmo, please include "Gator Community/Sunshine" along with your grade level/position in the comments. As a thank you, each teacher who contributes will receive a workout wear pass!
Here are some activities we’re planning this year, contingent on our fundraising:
-Monthly cupcakes to celebrate birthdays
-Snack cart
-Gift cards for extended hospital stays
-Supplies for the Christmas party
We will also share a budget spreadsheet periodically so you can see how funds are being allocated.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Hart!
Sign students up to share on the Announcements here!
Students interested in sharing information about Hispanic Heritage Month on the Announcements can be signed up below. Please let the student know that they should come to room 302. They MUST arrive by 7:35 am to be on air.
Please list the student's topic. This can be a famous Hispanic American, cultural tradition, or Spanish word or phrase they would like to share. Students should have some notes regarding what they would like to say.
Please reach out to student's parents and ask if it is okay to share their student's segment on Facebook. These will be shared at the end of the week. Email Holt if you have any questions.
The information in this corner will help us understand ourselves better so that we can make progress on our new culture goal: "at work, i have the opportunity to do what i do best every day. "
This week's focus for "doing what we do best EVERY DAY" focuses on your current successes.
Think about your current classroom. What do you do best with the kids you've got right now?
Note: This will be our PLT task for the next two weeks so that each team has the chance to share out during extended PLTs.
Don't forget!
Every Thursday is Braswell Spirit Day. You may wear jeans and Braswell spiritwear/colors.
Every Friday is Savannah Spirit Day. You may wear jeans and Savannah spiritwear/colors.
