Shout out to Sistrunk, Nichols and Castillo for attending the All Content: Workshop PD.
What Is Expected of Me This Week
Our Extended PLCs are this week for 5th, 3rd, and 1st. We will check in on WIN time and track progress on each team's SMART goals. Please make sure you have your data and agendas are ready to go, and you have added your students of concern to the Kid Talk form. Formal MTSS meetings will begin soon and we need to show what we have done for our students so far.
Book Study Update: Guiding Coalition met to discuss options for the next few book study topics. As they were looking through the lens of small group, they agreed upon these options:
Reading Strategies Book 2.0-November and December's focus will be on Goal 10 Comprehending Text Features. This topic was decided based upon the district's BEV. 3rd-5th grade will cover a nonfiction unit during the 2nd 9 weeks.
Teaching Elementary Math-GC narrowed the topics down to four: Manipulatives/Visual Aids, Problem Solving, When Students Get Stuck, Math Language/Vocabulary. Please take this survey to help decide what to cover in November and December.
As always, update your Reading Tracker before your PLC day. Remember our goal is for students to make at least a years growth in reading. Start progress monitoring your students. Linked are the running records forms we will use this year: Fiction & Non-Fiction. Hard copies are in the Literacy Library.
Math WIN continues this week! Make sure you've entered WIN Time Goal #2 on the teacher data binder. If you haven't already, enter the dates you will check progress. Please have at least 3 data points--Baseline Data, Mid-Way Check and Ending Data.
Let's work hard and show off our progress on Data Showcase day! If you would like to go ahead and create your ELAR slide for our November 14th Data Showcase Day, here is the new presentation link.

Still Important from Last Week...
Edugence Housekeeping: We have been busy taking care of our TTESS documents in Edugence. Make sure that your goals and any walkthroughs have a GREEN icon. If the icon is YELLOW, see an admin. If the icon is ORANGE it is likely just needing your signature. Sign, save, and submit!
A word about CONFERENCES: Denton ISD asks that teachers plan a parent conference for every student performing below level (K-2 according to the literacy packet and/or PNA; 3-5 two or more years behind in iReady reading and/or math, or a year or more below grade level according to F and P). If you have questions about who needs conferences we can discuss during PLC. We like to complete conferences by the end of October, however we will also give you the afternoon of 11/5/2024 (PD Day) from 1:00-3:00 to tidy up conferences. Keep a sign-in sheet to show which families showed up.
If you need an interpreter for conferences, please use the Language Line. See more details here.
TEACHERS: Make sure you have signed up for your TTESS observation. You should have gotten an email from me, Norris, or Espinoza. We are trying to get TTESS complete by the end of October or first part of November at the latest.
Add the Savannah Calendar to Your Outlook Calendar
The Savannah Calendar will be updated each month with important dates everyone needs to know. This will enable you to see your personal calendar in one color and Savannah_Calendar events in another. It also prevents us from having to send out invitations for every event. It will just automatically add it to the calendar without it being accepted.
Please use the directions to the right to add Savannah_Calendar to your calendars in Outlook. These directions show how to add to Outlook in the desktop version. To add in Outlook on Office 365, click "Add Calendar," Search for "Savannah_Calendar" and then add.
If you see something that needs to be added to the Savannah_Calendar group calendar or a mistake that needs to be corrected, please let Holt know.
The information in this corner will help us understand ourselves better so that we can make progress on our new culture goal: "at work, i have the opportunity to do what i do best every day. "
This week's focus for "doing what we do best EVERY DAY" focuses on your enneagram number.
Think about your enneagram number. Read the descriptions below for each enneagram number's career strengths. Which part of your number's description resonates with you the most?
Note: This will be our PLT task for the next two weeks so that each team has the chance to share out during extended PLTs.
Don't forget!
Every Thursday is Braswell Spirit Day. You may wear jeans and Braswell spiritwear/colors.
