Greetings Calhoun Families!
We are thrilled to officially welcome back all of our returning and new CMS students and their families to A.O. Calhoun Middle School! Itโs wonderful to have you with us, and weโre excited to kick off the 2024-25 school year in our brand-new building. We are loving the new space and are beginning to settle in, but with our move come some important new procedures. Please take a moment to review the following updates:
Drop-Off / Pickup Information:(Map included below)
Student Entrances: The front entrance and the bus lane entrance are the only student entry points to Calhoun MS. Both areas are monitored for the safety and security of our students.
Car Riders and Walkers: Please use the front entrance.
Bus Riders: Enter through the bus lane doors.
Once on Campus:
Students are welcome to grab breakfast in the cafeteria.
6th Graders: After breakfast, you will wait in the cafeteria until your advisory teacher escorts you to class.
7th and 8th Graders: Grab breakfast and head directly to your advisory class. Be sure to get your breakfast before heading to class.
We are so proud of our CMS students for their strong start to the school year and look forward to all the great things ahead. Donโt forget, our Open House is this coming Monday! Itโs a fantastic opportunity for families to meet teachers and staff, and we hope to see you there.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful weekend!

At Calhoun Middle School, our mission is to cultivate a healthy school culture where we continuously collaborate and embrace necessary change to ensure student learning in an ever-evolving global community.ย
We're excited to introduce the newest members of our Calhoun Colts family! This year, we welcome a fantastic group of first-year teachers who are eager to inspire, engage, and lead our students to success. These dedicated individuals bring fresh perspectives, energy, and innovative ideas to our classrooms.
Please join us in welcoming our "New Teachers on the Block" as they embark on their teaching journey with us. Stay tuned as we highlight each of these outstanding educators throughout the school year!

August
Every month this school year,ย CMS will focus on one learner profile as a campus.ย For the month of August, we are RISK-TAKERS! Students and staff will be selected and acknowledged for displaying the attributes of a RISK-TAKER.ย ย
Each of the learner profiles includes a "We" statement that describes how to show the learner profile and why the learner profile is important.ย Discuss the "We" statement for this month with your student and encourage them to strive to see themselves as IB RISK-TAKERS.ย ย
We face unfamiliar situations with courage and forethought. We seek independence to explore new roles, ideas, and strategies. We are brave and articulate in defending our beliefs.ย
