Principal's Message
Spring Break is here! I hope you and your loved ones have some fun planned or at least can enjoy spending some quality time together. When we return from Spring Break, the rest of the year will fly by. It's hard to believe that summer will be here before we know it.
Some things we are looking forward to: Kids Against Hunger packing event, many field trips and Open House in May.

Are you interested in getting more involved with the Bringhurst community, working closely with teachers and me, and helping create amazing experiences for your children? If so, we highly encourage you to consider running for Bringhurst PTO officers. These positions are a 1-year commitment. If you are interested and want to learn more, please feel free to reach out to any of the officers at bringhurstpto@gmail.com.
Bringhurst Elementary PTO elections will be held at the PTO meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the school or via Zoom. We welcome all nominations and will strive to create a diverse and balanced roster of applicants that accurately represents our school’s demographics. To nominate yourself or someone else, please fill out this form (Chinese nomination form available here).

On Thursday, April 06, apply code 913624 in the Fundraiser Code box during online checkout at www.pandaexpress.com or in the Panda Express App. Order at any location all day, lunch or dinner, at locations nationwide. 3rd party apps and delivery programs are not compatible with the fundraiser.
Penny Wars Winners!
Thank you to all of you who donated any loose change to our first Penny Wars! The PTO raised a lot of funds for our students and school! Congratulations to the Grand Prize Winner - Ms. To's class and to all of the grade level winners! Ms. To's class will earn otter pops and $100 in classroom supplies. Each grade level winner will earn otter pops and $50.00 in classroom supplies.

Kids Against Hunger
Last Tuesday, all students K-6th learned about Kids Against Hunger and what the meal packing event on 4/20 will look like. We are very excited to participate in such a meaningful cause. We will need 40 parent volunteers to help make this event run smoothly. Please sign up using this link.
In partnership with Bay Area Community Services https://www.bayareacs.org/, I am excited to share with you that the entire batch of meals packed by students a Lila on 4/20 will be used to support major homeless shelters in the Alameda County. Several students asked me after the KAH Assembly where the meals will be going. Please share this news with Lila families that the meals packed by your students will support the most needy folks in our county.
We are a little nervous as next week folks are out for spring break. This gives us very little time to fundraise or recruit volunteers. To make this event successful, it is imperative that we have enough volunteers to support the students pack. We very much rely on school fundraiser to help pay for the supplies. This helps us minimize burning through our reserve funds so that we could support more title1 school packing events.
Donations: only $270 PayPal donations received so far.
Parent Volunteers: Only 14 out of 40 volunteers signed up so far.
Please consider donating to Kids Against Hunger to help offset the cost of the meals. $25.00 donation will make 100 meals!! QR code for easy donating is attached.

Incoming Hopkins Students/Families
Dear Incoming 6th and 7th Grade Hopkins Families,
We are inviting incoming and current families to our Hopkins Expo on Wednesday, 4/19, 6:30-8 PM. This is a great time to check out our campus, see students' work, and talk with staff about the classes next year. There will be student performances and food trucks as well. We hope to see you at this community event. Please see the attached flyer for details.

Help Wanted!
We are still looking for noon supervisors during lunch times. We are VERY short staffed on Mondays and Fridays. This is a paid position at $16.00/hour from the hours of 11-1 each day. We are also in need of a breakfast supervisor from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Paulina Sanchez psanchez@fusdk12.net in the office for information and the hiring packet.
If you prefer to volunteer and not have to fill out paperwork, get finger printed, etc. please let us know, we can work with volunteers as well.

We no longer distribute flyers for outside organizations. Instead we use Peachjar for eflyers. You can find the Peachjar button on the district or Bringhurst webpage. Or use this link. Check this page often as it is updated frequently.

If you need to report your child's absence or have general questions you can call, email or stop by. Our main line is 510-490-1205. If we are helping parents or students we may not be able to answer your call. Please leave a message and we will return your call within 24 business hours. Our office hours are: Mon-Thursday 8:00-3:30 p.m. Friday 8:00-3:00 p.m.
