A HUGE Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students in our first ever Blazer Fun Run! Thank you for your generous donations! We are so fortunate to have exceeded our initial $10,000 goal and even exceeded our $20,000 goal! This will go towards much needed classroom supplies, materials and resources needed by all of our students at Bringhurst. We cannot thank you enough! Because we exceeded our goal, I had the chilly pleasure of getting ice bucketed after our fun run ended. Check out the video here.
We are still awaiting information about our play structures. They remain closed until we learn more about the recommendations (if any) after our "drop test" this week. Thank you for your patience.
Last week, you may have received a progress report from your child's teacher. Receiving a progress report does not mean that your child is NOT going to pass this grade level. It is simply a communication tool to make sure that there are no surprises at report card conference times. Speaking of conference times, teachers will soon be scheduling conferences for the week of November 14th. Please plan to attend Parent/Teacher conferences. This is dedicated time for you and your child's teacher to discuss progress and support for your child. Our goal is to help all children succeed.
October is Bully Prevention month. We will wear orange on Wednesdays as we continue learning how to put a stop to bullying.
Finally, we are looking for some help from parents or community members. We have employment and volunteer opportunities available, please see below.
We are currently planning our Halloween parade and more information will be shared as we get closer to the event.
Have a wonderful Week!

Celebrate International Walk and Roll to School Day!
October 12, 2022
Join Bringhurst for International Walk and Roll to School Day! We will celebrate our school spirit, our health, and the environment with the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools program. We encourage you to celebrate safely and to follow local health guidelines.
This year, our school will celebrate in-person at the schoolyard. With your family and friends, you can participate by:
• Taking a walk, or riding a bike, skateboard, or scooter.
• Biking with your child on their own or with a trail-a-bike.
• Taking the bus with your child and walking to and from the bus stop.
• Joining a Walking School Bus or a Bike Train.
Post a fun photo on social media to celebrate the day! Remember to tag @AlamedaCoSR2S on Twitter with #WalkandRoll22 and #IWR2SD, and post on Facebook at facebook.com/saferoutestoschool.
We look forward to walking and rolling with you!
Wednesday traffic is especially heavy due to the close dismissal times of Kindergarten at 12:40 and 1st-6th at 1:02. Beginning Wednesdays the loop will be closed and opened at 12:40 ONLY to Kindergarten Parents with their placard. If you do not have your child's placard, please contact your teacher to get one. You will NOT be allowed to enter the loop at 12:40 unless your placard is displayed. Once kindergarten students are all picked up, 1st-6th grade parents will be allowed in the loop. Please be respectful to Kindergarten teachers and all staff trying to keep the traffic moving safely and efficiently.
The gates located near the play structures will be locked during school hours. They will be opened at the end of the school day until the next morning when school starts. Thank you for your understanding.
Bringhurst PTO is excited to be hosting Trunk or Treat this year on Friday, October 28th in the school's parking lot. What is Trunk or Treat? Parents and Staff will decorate their trunks OR tables and children will walk from trunk to table to get Treats! The best decorated trunk or Table will receive a PRIZE!
We have limited space for decorated cars, so we're adding some sections for table set up as well. If you plan to donate, treat drop box will be available starting 10/12 in the school office. Please sign up and help Bringhurst put together a memorable Trunk or Treat for our children! We ask that you all keep this to just Bringhurst students, staff and their families to ensure we have enough treats for everyone! Thank you for your continued support! We appreciate you!
