This is such a fun time of year! We are eagerly awaiting the holidays, winter break and welcoming in a New Year! As we wind down the first part of our school year and look ahead to what's coming, there is a lot to be thankful for and I'm so happy with the progress we've made. The Bringhurst Staff works so hard each day to make learning fun and meaningful for our students. It's so nice to see more and more parents on campus volunteering in the classrooms and it's really starting to feel like a community, especially with so many students and staff sporting their newest Bringhurst gear.
We are excited to ring in 2023. There is lots of learning and fun to look forward to!
Wishing you and your families a very warm and wonderful season and prosperous New Year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. White and the Bringhurst Staff

CIPCF Fundraising Drive is still ON!
The CIPCF Annual Direct Donation Drive is still running, and ends on Friday, December 9th. Anyone can of course donate at any time, but this Donation Drive is the primary source of funds for supporting MIP, including this year's classroom start-up fund, the annual class stipend, the library book donation fund, and the tech refresh fund.
Our donation drive goal this year is $30k. As of this email, we received $8360 in
donation, for a total of $12,030 with company matching. The class with the highest donation totals will win a prize (TBD) to make it a little fun competition. Ms. To’s Kindergarten class is currently leading. Here's the current chart (updated daily),
If you are willing and able, please share with your contacts in the MIP community that the donation drive is happening. Here is a link to the Google Form where they can enter their donation information for the class competition.
The Bringhurst Science Fair is happening in February. This is an optional activity. If your child is interested in participating in the Science Fair, they must visit Mrs. Johnson's Science Lab and obtain a permission slip. All signed permission slips are due by December 19th.

Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) provides support for gifted and talented (GATE) students through differentiated instruction. We believe that differentiated instruction not only serves the needs of our exceptional students, but also enhances the entire educational program for all students.
In February of 2020, funding for the CogAT testing was cut as part of the budget savings. While the CogAT testing has been the primary means of qualifying students for GATE identification we are now in the process of identifying an alternative way of identifying students. There will not be a test for GATE eligibility given this year. We are currently revising the GATE identification process and handbook. FUSD will have an update by Spring 2023.
During the 2022/2023 school year we will continue to identify 5th and 6th grade students who were not identified in an earlier grade. These students may be considered for GATE identification through the professional judgement process. Teachers and/or parents may nominate a student. A completed nomination form must be submitted by the teacher or parent to the school Principal by December 15, 2022. Principals will set up meetings with the teacher, student, and parent to discuss the student’s eligibility for GATE identification. In June 2023, parents, teachers, and students who applied for professional judgement will be informed of their child’s GATE eligibility.
With so many illnesses going around, we ask that parents please keep your child home if they are sick. Even the common cold for one child could become something far more serious for another. Please remember to screen your child for symptoms each morning. If your child has a new symptom, please keep them home and perform a covid test. If you need a covid test you can always pick one up from our office. If your child tests positive, please notify the office right away. Any assignments missed while sick can be made up with no penalty to your child's grades. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe and healthy!
