Newsletter 15 (2/10/23)

Principal's Message

We are quickly approaching the 3rd and final trimester.  Time is flying by!  February is a short month but packed with so many things!  This month, your children will likely be learning about noteable Black Americans during Black History Month, kindness and friendship around Valentine's day, Presidents now and from our past and so much more!  We are also entering the testing season.  We are already starting to test our Multi Lingual Learners with the ELPAC test and will begin testing 3-6th graders with the SBAC test in the next few months.

A big THANK YOU to our PTO for organizing a campus clean up day a few weeks ago.  The kids and parents did a great job cleaning up debris from all over our campus grounds.  We are very appreciative of all of your hard work!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and final weeks of February!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Johanna White

Principal

Parking Concerns from Lennar Home Builders

We received a phone call from the Lennar Offices (Construction builder) informing us about illegal and dangerous driving and parking from our parents, guardians and pick up people.  They informed us that people are parking in unauthorized areas, double parking in front of cars, dropping students off in the street and crossing outside of crosswalks, and when asked to move, they are ignored.  Please set a good example for your children and our students by obeying the traffic laws.  We appreciate the importance of getting kids to school on time, but it is much more important to get kids to school safely.  Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Parking Loop

Wednesdays the Parking Loop is CLOSED between 11:30 and 12:30.  We will open the loop at 12:30 for Late Bird Kindergarten Parents ONLY.  After the Kindergarteners have been picked up, everyone is welcome in the loop beginning at 12:50.  If you are a Kindergarten parent, you MUST have your placard to be admitted.  If you do NOT have your placard you will NOT be able to enter the loop until after 12:50.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please be patient when using the loop.  There are many cars speeding through the loop, dropping kids off in the second lane (this is a passing lane only), and having students walk through the parking lot unattended.  We all want our student to get to and from school safely.  Please be respectful to the teachers and staff trying to move traffic through the parking loop.  Cars and drivers that are repeatedly disregarding our loop procedures will not be allowed to use the loop for a certain period of time.

Parking is for STAFF ONLY

All spots in our parking lot are for STAFF only.  The only exception to this is the handicap spots.  Those are for anyone with a placard.  Please be respectful and do NOT park in our parking lot for any reason, even if you will "only be a minute".  Parking in a teacher's spot could cause them to be late to their class.  Thank you for your understanding.

LOST and FOUND - OVERFLOWING

Once again we have MANY jackets and sweaters that have been left behind.  Please ask your child to take a look through the items or stop by when you have some time.   We will have to remove all items at the end of the month and donate anything still remaining.

Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a book fair at our library from 2/24/23-3/3/23.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for parents and students to add to their personal collections while also helping the school raise money to add more to our library’s collection.  https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/lilabringhurstelementaryschool

Enrollment 23-24 School Year

Please watch for a “FALL 2023-2024 Reservation/Registration Form” to be mailed home

soon for each student currently enrolled in TK – 6 th grades. The form will not be handed out to

parents and serves 2 purposes: it reserves a spot for your child next year at Bringhurst and also

fulfills the District’s mandated annual residency verification via USPS. Please don’t mistake the

letter for junk mail and toss it out!

For students who will be moving on to junior high next year, Bringhurst will collect the form

and proofs and communicate with the Jr. High School to confirm a space will be reserved for next

year. By submitting the required form and Residency Proofs by February 24th, your child will

be reserved a space for next year.

*The forms must be returned to the school that your student currently is attending; if you have a

student overloaded to another elementary school, please return it there.

School Accountability Report Cards

Federal and state laws require school districts to make accountability reports available to the public online.  Accountability report information is based on data and information from the previous year.  Dates will run one year behind.

We are pleased to inform you that our district's School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) are available in English, Spanish, and/or Chinese, as required.  You may view the SARCs on the Fremont Unified School District web site at www.fremont.k12.ca.us under Resources & Contacts/Reports, or by visiting your school office.  You may also obtain a hard copy at your school office.  To answer any questions regarding the SARCs, there are designated personnel available at each school site.

For more information about SARC requirements, see the California Department of Education (CDE) SARC web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/sa/.
