Happy New Year!  We hope you had a wonderful winter break and had some time to rest and recharge! I want to thank all of you who thought of and gave all of us gifts.  Your thoughtfulness is so special and  meaningful, we are deeply appreciative, thank you. 

Progress Reports will be coming home soon.  Teachers may be sending home progress reports to students who are not meeting grade level standards.  This notice is to provide you with current information and time to meet with your child's teacher(if you'd like), to discuss a plan or strategies to help your child make improvements.  If your child does not receive a progress report, that indicates your child is currently making appropriate grade level progress. 

As we look ahead, we are excited to be holding a Lunar New Year Celebration on January 25th.  Thank you to the parents and staff who are working hard to coordinate a fun event for all of our Bringhurst Families.  I have invited several District staff to join in the fun. 

We will begin to look ahead to state testing in the coming months.  ELPAC testing (English Learners) will begin in February and Smarter Balanced Assessments for 3-6th grade students begin in the spring. While these are high stakes tests, I want to emphasize that these are just one accountablity tool and we do not want to cause any undue stress or anxiety for students.  We want students to try their best, get a good night's rest each night and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning in order to do their best every day in school.

The Rabbit Year is quickly approaching. This school year, we will be able to bring back on-site celebrations. There will be onsite cultural education activities during the school day at Hopkins on Friday, January 20th and Bringhurst on Wednesday, January 25th. Parent volunteers are needed.   

Information on transitional kindergarten (TK), kindergarten, sibling priority and other new student enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is now available at www.fremont.k12.ca.us/enrollment. 

Eligibility for transitional kindergarten is expanding: children who will be 5 years old between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024 can enroll in this free program for 2023-24 to get a head start in school and build their social, communication and independence skills.

If your student is currently attending an FUSD school in grades TK-11, there is no need to re-enroll.

We are still looking for noon supervisors during lunch times.  This is a paid position at $16.00/hour from the hours of 11-1 each day.  We currently are in need of a breakfast supervisor from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m.  If you are interested, please email Mrs. Paulina Sanchez  psanchez@fusdk12.net in the office for information and the hiring packet.  

If you prefer to volunteer and not have to fill out paperwork, get finger printed, etc.  please let us know, we can work with volunteers as well.

Please remind your child that cell phones and smart watches are not to be used on campus during school hours. Families who have students with cell phones or smart watches assume all responsibility for the device.  We will not replace or be held responsible for lost, stolen or broken devices. If your child is in the office, you can talk with your child over the office phone.  Students should not be calling parents to pick them up.  All communication should be made through the office staff for safety purposes. 

Students who are caught using devices will have their device revoked and must be picked up in the office by parents/guardian.

The Bringhurst Basketball Teams are fundraising with Mrs. Field's Cookies.  We hope you'll consider buying a box or two of cookies AND help our Boys and Girls Basketball Teams raise much needed funds.  We earn 40% of all profits.  These funds will go towards the cost of uniforms, equipment, referees.  Thank you in advance! 

If you are interested in coaching Soccer for Bringhurst please email Mrs. White (jbwhite@fusdk12.net) for information.  There are some important things to note:

• Soccer teams are made up of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students only

• We must have a boys and girls team in order to participate

• We cannot play games on our field, as we do not have  goals,  funds to purchase them or a place to store them afterschool or on weekends

• All games would be played at other schools in FUSD
