CHIEFS HEAD TO SUPER BOWL FOR POSSIBLE THIRD WIN
The Kansas City Chiefs are making history this NFL season. Going into the playoffs with a record of 15-2, the Chiefs have the top seed of the AFC conference. This season, the Chiefs have the chance to make history, being the first team to win three super bowls in a row.
Coming off of last season, the Chiefs repeated a super bowl win, winning both Super Bowl LVII and LVIII. On top of that, the Chiefs have made the AFC championship game seven years in a row. Since 2020, the Chiefs have made four super bowl appearances winning all but one. This year will be their fifth appearance, third super bowl in a row.
The quarterback of the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, has only been on the team since 2017. Quickly rising to the top, some refer to the Chiefs as the “villains” of the NFL. With tight end Travis Kelce dating popstar Taylor Swift, the fan base of the Kansas City team has drastically grown. However, with constant wins, NFL fans say they are ready to see another team in the spotlight.
Critics of the Chiefs have often made jokes about the team “paying the refs” and accused them of cheating their way to victory. When Travis Kelce was asked what one thing he would ask the media, he stated “Why are you guys leaning into this whole ref thing?”
As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, the Chiefs have the opportunity to be the first team with this threepeat. The game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9, in the New Orleans Caesars Superdome.
