WHY I WROTE IT:
Being a friend and classmate to Coen Browning, I have noticed how unique his story is and how his passion for cheer has kept him close to his goals. For two years, Coen was the only male on our school's cheerleading squad. He had to overcome adversity and go against social normalities. His story is a true testiment to motivation.

WHY I WROTE IT:
Since opening in 1963, Southside has kept many traditions alive throughout the past 62 years. I wrote this story because my class is the first group of freshmen to be on campus. Before that ninth grade was taught at a junior high. My graduating class has essentially "made history" in the world of Fort Smith Public Schools, so I found value in writing this piece.

WHY I WROTE IT:
During his first year on the high school team, freshman Carter Traywick made it all the way to the state bowling competition and won. I wrote this story because it was a huge accomplishment for a freshman to win state, and his story behind why he started was so motivating for other athletes.
