Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration (MHSPD)  (2023-2027)

Educatate School-Based Mental Health Professionals for Justice: A Developmental-Contextual Approach

Fordham University's Graduate School of Education, in collaboration with KIPP NYC, NYC School District 9, and NYC School District 75 has launched a five-year Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration (MHSPD) project. This federal grant-funded initiative, led by CCMH Director Eric Chen, PhD, aims to address mental health professionals' shortages in specific high-need schools, prioritizing applicants committed to seeking employment in these schools upon graduation.

Our project is made possible by generous funding from The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation (MCHF).

CCMH is honored to be selected as The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation's grantee. Through this partnership and the work of countless organizations across our state, we are working to support vulnerable communities in each corner of New York. Specifically, this grant will allow CCMH to continue offering free virtual counseling, group counseling, and educational workshops to Black, Latino, and immigrant school-age children in the Bronx. Our mission remains to help them develop coping skills during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a disproportionately negative impact on the mental health of communities of color.
