Alyssa is currently a second year Counseling Psychology PhD student at Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical/Community Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a bilingual Korean-American immigrant, her identity profoundly shapes both her professional and personal aspirations. Her research and clinical passions revolve around supporting immigrant families and advocating for the intricate intersections of culture, identity, and mental health. Alyssa has delved into various research endeavors, including exploring language comprehension among English as Second Language (ESL) emerging adults, investigating Asian American counseling service utilization, and presently examining LGBTQIA+ Korean-American family relationships. Currently serving as a counseling extern at the City College of New York’s Counseling Center, she hones her skills in short-term Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions tailored for the diverse college population. In her role as a graduate assistant with the CCMH team, Alyssa aspires to expand her clinical training and give back to the underserved community by collaborating with the youth and families of the Bronx.
