What is CCMH?

The Clinical Mental Health (CCMH) program, funded by Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, aims to provide access to school-age children and youth in crisis within the Bronx Community. The program uses telehealth services to serve at-risk children and youth.

What populations does CCMH serve?

CCMH works with children and youth ages 8-17 that live within the Bronx Community.

What if my child is younger than 8, or older than 17 years old?

CCMH provides services to youth and adolescents ages 8-17. If your child is outside of this range, please contact NYC Well by texting WELL to 65173 or Calling 1-800-NYC-WELL to be connected to free mental health services.

What if my child does not live in the Bronx?

Currently, CCMH only provides services to youth and adolescents living in the Bronx. If your child lives in one of the other NYC boroughs, please contact NYC Well by texting WELL to 65173 or calling 1-800-NYC-WELL to be connected to free mental health services.

What services are offered?

We offer 10 individual child/youth sessions. Additionally, group sessions are offered. Parents sessions are offered as a part of the treatment. Sessions for teachers or other supporters may be involved if the parents think it could be beneficial.

Do you offer other services?

We offer workshops for youths, parents, and teachers.

Do you offer services in Spanish?

Yes, we offer all of our services in Spanish and English

What is the process to obtain counseling sessions?

Please email ccmh@fordham.edu or call 718-817-1202 to request service for your child.

Are there any fees associated with any of these services?

No, all services provided are free of charge to families.

Will I need to fill out any forms before receiving services?

Yes, you will need to fill out three forms prior to starting sessions: [1] Consent to Treatment, [2] COVID Screener, [3] Developmental History. You can find these forms here.

What is the length of treatment?

The length of treatment is ten weeks (one session per week). There is some flexibility on a case-by-case basis.

How long will the individual counseling session last?

Sessions are typically scheduled for 30-45 minutes and most people see their counselor once a week for consistent progress to be made.

Will my counseling sessions be confidential?

Yes. We will go over the confidentiality policy during the intake session.

What if my child is unable to attend one of the sessions?

We will reschedule the session depending on our availability.

Do I need to attend/supervise/be in the room sessions with my child?

The guardian will be expected to be available by phone while the child is in session. A caregiver may also need to be physically available depending on the child’s age/clinical needs, during the course of the session.

Who is providing these services, credentials?

The services are provided by graduate assistants who are supervised directly by a licensed clinical social worker. You can find the team bios here.

How will sessions be conducted?

All services will be conducted remotely. There are no in-person sessions offered.
