Xiaohe is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. She received her MSW from the Columbia University School of Social Work and is an advanced Counseling Psychology PhD student at Fordham. She was born and raised in China and moved to New York for graduate education. As a clinical social worker and a therapist, Xiaohe has worked with clients across the life span in varied hospital and community mental health settings across all boroughs of New York City. In these roles, Xiaohe demonstrated leadership by providing workshops and training for stakeholders in the community (e.g., schools, parents, mental health and medical providers) on mental health topics. She also co-founded MAZE Partners, a non-profit organization that aims to promote mental health among international students in the U.S. She has expertise in providing individual and group counseling through an integrated lens of cognitive behavioral, relational, and humanistic theories. Xiaohe’s research emphasizes understanding lived experience in developmental, ecological, and cultural contexts with particular interest in understanding how young individuals perceive and navigate mental health issues in societal, political, and cultural changes.
