Alexa, a first-year student in the Mental Health Counseling Master's program from Miami, Florida, graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Vanderbilt University in May 2023. With a strong inclination toward working with marginalized communities, particularly Spanish-speaking children and adults, Alexa draws inspiration from her experiences as a Behavior Technician and volunteer teacher in Nashville. These experiences working with underserved and bilingual communities have strengthened her passion for increasing the accessibility of mental health counseling resources for individuals from various backgrounds. Having spent time in Miami and visiting family in Puerto Rico, Alexa has observed the pressing need for mental health services in native languages. Alexa is excited by the opportunity to join Clinical Mental Health Services in the Bronx Community Program, an opportunity that provides her with fulfilling experiences that simultaneously aligns with her various passions and professional goals. She has a specific interest in supporting and working with adolescents, and she is committed to ensuring equitable access to mental health services for all.
