Elena Kim, a Counseling Psychologist with a PhD from Fordham University, embodies a commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) shaped by her immigrant upbringing post-Korean War. Her clinical expertise, cultivated through diverse experiences at institutions like New York Health and Hospitals and Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Hospital, is complemented by her roles as EDI Officer for APA’s Division 36: Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality and contributions to the Diversity Committee for the APA Division 49: Society of Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy. Dr. Kim explores the integration of spirituality into clinical practice; her research commitment is evident in grants secured for her dissertation study and publications in peer-reviewed journals. She draws from a comprehensive toolkit of therapeutic modalities, including existential, humanistic, psychodynamic, emotion-focused, spiritually-integrated, and cognitive-behavioral approaches. Outside her professional sphere, she finds joy in yoga, nature, and quality time with friends and family.
