Senior Release Information
What is it?Senior Release is a privilege earned by senior students which provides the opportunity to leave school on a daily basis during one or two specific class periods. Senior release hours will be hours 1, 7, 8 or Academic Release Time (9th hour). Students on senior release must leave the building during their release period.
Who qualifies?A senior student will have the opportunity to obtain a Senior Release, provided they meet the following requirements:
Student must be enrolled and successfully passing five full time equivalent classes (per board policy on full time student status).
Student will be eligible for 1 period of release if their transcript reflects 17.5 earned credits.
Student will be eligible for 2 periods of release if their transcript reflects 18.5 earned credits.
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above or a 3.0 gpa from previous semester.
Student may not be identified as a habitual truant.
Options that you have instead of a release:
Often times students would like to have a different type of educational setting and understand that taking releases can hinder the college admissions process. Above are two great alternatives.
