The Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program integrates school-based and work-based learning. Students accepted into an approved Youth Apprenticeship program will continue taking classes at their high school while working as an apprentice at a participating business. Students will be enrolled in a technical class related to their youth apprenticeship program. These one or two-year programs are designed to integrate school-based and work-based learning. Programs will provide academic and occupational skills necessary for employment and/or advanced standing in a post-secondary technical program. Employment sites must be willing to pay Youth Apprentices at least minimum wage via company payroll, which includes workers’ compensation and payroll taxes. They must also be willing to work with the school Youth Apprenticeship instructor.
There are many amazing YA opportunities available in Fond du Lac County!
If you are planning to participate please complete the application.
If you are already employed you might be able to convert it into a YA position that allows you to leave school and get paid while earning up to 2 high school credits/year.
