Goals:
Social/Emotional: Child will separate from parents/care givers to classroom without crying
Sense of Belonging: Children develop a sense of place through generating a shared repertoire of narratives and memories
Numeracy: can hold up 1, 2 and 3 fingers
Listening and Vocabulary:
Gross and Fine Motor: Children explore body movement by participating in a variety of physical activities indoor and out
Numeracy: Children will be asked how many Red fish are in the bowl each morning.
Social and Emotional: Each child will take a turn being the class leader. This will allow each child to have the opportunity to be a class leader which will including: sitting in the leader chair, taking the attendance to the office etc. As well, this will begin helping the children to identify their names.
Imaginative Play: Children have not yet discovered the dramatic play area. I am excited to see their imaginative and creative play.
There is a kitchen that is currently being used as a kitchen. There is a variety of plastic food, cooking implements, plates, bowls etc. This is wonderful place for the children to engage in imaginative play.
Our classroom has a table dedicated to prayer and liturgy. We are learning how to stand quietly during morning prayer and during the singing of O Canada.
Our classroom has two fish bowls. "Bubbles" is a beta and a smaller bowl of guppies. The children are enjoying watching them in their water environment.
There are dolls and small stuffed toys here for the children to engage with.
A small house with a variety of multicultural dolls is available for pretend and imaginative play.
The Light table has a variety of coloured and differently shaped buttons for the children to play with. There is a full class set of puppets for the children to play with. Puppets are a wonderful way to express interests and pretend play. This week, we will continue to explore a variety of fall colours including orange, brown, red, green.
The children will explore a number of new words (vocabulary development) at this matching game as well as number of books for the children to freely access each day.
Fine motor: The children will practice putting leaves on the trees. During morning circle we will be singing a number of fall related songs and activities. Playdough this week will have a variety of manipulatives and alphabet cutters.
