“Early childhood curriculum is embedded in children’s daily experiences
with their families and in local communities. These experiences inform
the care routines, play, learning, and developmental experiences in early
learning and child care programs. They are reflected in the curriculum
decisions that early childhood educators are already making. These
decisions inform their interactions with each child and family and are
revealed in the selection of play and learning materials, design of the care,
play, and learning space, and organization of daily routines”.

AN EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK FOR ALBERTA

Here is the Early Childhood Space I have created for your child.
This is what our learning space currently looks like. I'm excited to welcome all the little people and their family to our space.
If you would like to volunteer - I would love to have you. Please see the start up information tab for more information.
Here is our snack stop. Children will eat with other children and have opportunities to try different health snacks. Our first day, they will be offered watermelon.
Dress up exploration: Near the snack table, there is a "dress up" exploration where children can explore different roles using their imagination and a few pieces of clothing, hats, scarves and various trinkets. This is a wonderful place for language enrichment.
Literacy: This book shelf will change over the course of the year - right now, I have displayed a number of hard cover books featuring different occupations.
Kitchen: We will always have a kitchen to play in and explore. Please feel free to come for a tea party!
Quiet corner: Right now I have chosen to focus on animals. However, once I have the opportunity to learn what the children are interested in, this corner will change to suit their interests.
We have a class fish. He has been named "Bubbles". "Tell me about your class fish" could be a conversation starter.
We will be exploring Red and Yellow this week. Suggestion: You could play eye spy with these colors at home to reinforce their learning at school.
Please send a picture of your family to school. (This may also include other special people in the child's life) We will put it on the Family wall to stay for the year.
There are a few choices for the children that are not shared here. Please stop by the classroom to see a science exploration choice, a blocks space and our quiet space.
I had the privilege of Meeting Dr. Stuart Brown and speaking at the same conference. I also have his book in my classroom as a parent resource if you are interested. This is a wonderful video on the value of Play.
The September Newsletter has been emailed to you. I have added a screen shot here so you will know what to look for.
