Learning Through Play - Week of November 6 - 9
Children have been very interested in magnets. This week there are a number of activities that will allow the children to explore magnetism including the magnetic dolls, magnetic sort and shapes on the white board.
In the sensory bin, there are popcorn kernals. "Treasures" have been added with magnetic wands and magnetic letters. As well, nonmagnetic treasures have been added for fine motor practice and sorting "Things that stick and things that don't stick".
The exploration of colour continues on the light table. We have books, blankets and pillows in the quiet corner.
Pets and equipment continue to be of interest. Large blocks have been added to the blocks area. This will be a fun new addition to explore.
The children have the ability to explore a variety of art materials. This week, scissors, cutting stamps, beading, stamping with letters and decorating letters is open for exploration.
The little people house has new people additions. Bubbles and 2 snails remains active and interesting, and the dress up corner continues to offer props, hats, glasses and clothes.
The children continue to identify their name on the wall as they enter the room. We will continue to talk about red choices and green choices at our morning meeting and children have the chance to sort colours if that is of interest.
