October 2-6

What a wonderful week ahead. Here are pictures of the play experiences that will be offered to the children. Please don't forget - Picture day is Friday.

The children remain interested in dolls and teddy bears.

There are puzzles set out every day - swapped and replaced - switched around.

The box has become a farm house this week. You can see the cow horns - there has been lots of "mooing".

This is one of the art stations. A large box with paper wrapped that the children are able to write on, color on, put stickers on, glue things to - The art materials are added to and changed almost daily.

A timer has been added to support the children in two ways: 1. to know how long to the next transition and 2. to support their problem solving.

The children are exploring their names in many ways - this week they are using letter stamps to create their names.

The children have access to Play dough almost every day. This week they have been enjoying cinnamon scented play dough.

Our foot print path remains. The children enjoy trying to match their prints to the direction of the one they are stepping on. Great gross motor activity.

The sensory table has been taken over by trucks and other equipment. Each day something new is added to enhance the play. Now, the children will have ramps to explore.

On Tuesday, the children attended their first presentation in the gym. As a result, I added the puppet theatre (similar to the large theatre used in the gym) to see how the children would interact. This is a lovely place of learning, social interaction, negotiation and imagination.

New books make their appearance on the carpet each week. Right now, the children have been been exploring rhyming words with "Big Books" during our morning routine.

Buttons leads to such wonderful exploration. This week they have been used to sort, classify, investigate and choose favorites.

Here is another art opportunity. The children have the opportunity to cut, glue, color, draw and use stickers.

Cars, Trucks and heavy equipment have been popular this week. At this play space, the children may choose their car, truck or other mode of transportation to engage with.
