The 2024 fall, or autumnal, equinox arrives in the Northern Hemisphere on September 24th at 5:44 AM PST. Astronomically, it's the day when the Sun is directly above the equator, dividing night and day into equal portions before crossing the celestial equator heading south. From the time of the Druids, the fall equinox also signaled the end of the harvest.
Autumn brings lots of changes--learn more by navigating to our Fall Equinox page. Is this your favorite season of the year?
"September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help." (NAMI)

"In March 1955, nine months before Rosa Parks defied segregation laws by refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin did exactly the same thing. Eclipsed by Parks, her act of defiance was largely ignored for many years." (BBC News).
Learn more about Claudette Colvin, her participation in the bus boycotts, and the influence of image on the Civil Rights Movement as we celebrate her birthday on September 5!
