Printing Opposites

Overview: In this lesson the students will be working with a partner to create two prints that go together. One student will focus on positive shapes and the other one negative shapes. When they print the students will also pick complementary colors. Topics for this project will be preselected.

Goals: I can work with a partner to create a piece of art that focuses on positive or negative shapes. 

Standards:1PE Identify how an artist’s choice of media relates to the ideas and images in the work.

5PR Collaborate to create a thematic work that combines visual art with other arts disciplines. 

6RE Develop and apply criteria to assess personal works for content and craftsmanship.

Language: positive/ negative shapes printmaking, complementary colors 

Requirements: 

-must relate to each other and clearly represent your word 

-one side positive/ one side negative shapes 

-must use complementary colors with your partner 

-create at least 3 excellent complete prints to turn in 

Block Printing 

Overview: In this project the students will design a graphic tee shirt that is inspired by the artist, Shepard Fairey. Each student will design a shirt, but only one will be screen printed. Students will have the option to bring in a clothing item to screen print on. Student’s design must be about art and include a falcon in some way. 





Goals: Students will use representing as the post modern art principle. 

Students will design a graphic tee shirt that represents the culture at Field Middle School as well as art.

5RE Identify professions that use art and design, and explore the relationship between art, technology and industry.
