This webpage refers to selecting up to two online courses built into the student's daily schedule at FHE. Families seeking to learn more about 100% virtual learning must contact the Counseling Office.
Students and families interested in opportunities for online learning as part of the student's regular school schedule (NOT after school or during summer) must read the FHPS VIRTUAL LEARNING COURSE INFORMATION AND AGREEMENTS and meet with the counselor.
Post-secondary plans should be considered by students and families wishing to take online courses; some online coursework may not be the best fit for future plans. Make an appointment with your school counselor to get help!
Families of students intending to participate in college-level sports are responsible for researching NCAA and/or NAIA requirements prior to enrolling in online courses. Some online courses, even if offered by a core academic department, may not fulfill NCAA or NAIA requirements.
Students should also be aware of the course completion deadlines. If an online vendor posts a completion date later than the end of the FHE semester, the course must be completed by the end of the FHE semester. Students should adjust their pacing guides accordingly.
Following a meeting with the counselor to determine if the online course is appropriate, an application must be completed by the student and family. Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
Click HERE for additional information about self-paid courses (any courses taken outside of the student's regular school schedule, including summer classes). All types of self-paid courses, including Michigan Virtual and MySchool@Kent online courses, must be approved in advance. Courses that are not pre-approved will not be included on the student's transcript.
