Financial Aid

FINANCIAL AID: The 2023–24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form in now  available! This is the starting point for current seniors who wish to apply for financial aid (loans and grants); completing the FAFSA is just the initial step. Completing the application does not obligate the student to commit to the loans that are offered. That choice is made later. GRCC offers support to any families and students who have questions about the FAFSA. You do not need to be a GRCC student or applicant to receive their help! If you need assistance with the FAFSA or have other financial aid questions, you can schedule a virtual appointment with a Financial Aid Specialist, or call (616) 234-4030.

Financial Aid Bootcamp: This webinar recording will help participants learn about federal financial aid eligibility, how to create an FSA ID, key changes, and how to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA form. If you prefer to go directly to a website and avoid watching a video, click HERE

Dealing With the FAFSA Delay: The Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) recently issued a statement regarding the delayed release of the FAFSA and how this has an impact on college decisions for current seniors. Click HERE to read the statement with some helpful tips for making informed choices!

FAFSA High School Selection - During the FAFSA, you will be asked to indicate your high school.  If you search for Eastern High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, you will receive more than one option with no way of deciphering which to select.

Here is what FAFSA instructed us to tell our students.  When completing the form, you will encounter the following questions:

What is the name of your high school?  Type: Forest Hills Eastern High School

In what city is your high school located?  Type: Ada

In what state is your high school located?  Select: Michigan

DO NOT select the CONFIRM button, simply select NEXT and the form will populate with the information you entered.

This will not impact the results of your FAFSA.

CSS Profile

The CSS is an online application to determine eligibility for non-federal financial aid, which is administered by the College Board, creator of the SAT. Not every college requires it, but nearly 400 colleges do, so be sure to first check the list of schools to determine whether your child needs to complete the application. It's also important to see if the school requires students of divorced parents to complete the additional Noncustodial PROFILE.
