OSEA Scholarships

John Brown Undergraduate Scholarship

Every year, OSEA awards scholarships to both members and students to assist them in making their academic dreams come true.

This year, college juniors and seniors have until Jan. 15 to apply for OSEA's John Brown Undergraduate Scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.8 and at least one parent, stepparent, grandparent, sibbling, aunt, uncle or legal guardian who is an OSEA or ROSE member in good standing.

Last year's recipient of the $1,000 scholarship was Nikki Rieken, who graduated from Oregon State University in June with bachelor degrees in family science and public health and human development. She plans to pursue a career as a child life specialist.

Rieken credits her mother, Teri, an attendance secretary at Mountain View Middle School in Beaverton, for giving her the confidence to pursue her dreams.

“Without her and my entire family’s encouragement and support throughout my college career, I would not be where I am today,” she said.

In addition to the John Brown Undergraduate Scholarship, application deadlines are not far away for a number of other scholarships:
