Ancient Greek Inspired Vases

In this unit, children will have the opportunity to develop their sculptural skills. They will look at some examples of traditional Greek pottery before designing and scultping their own vase. They will then use their knowledge of colour mixing to create suitable colours to paint their vases and apply detail. 

After looking at some examples, children sketched their own design for a Greek inspired vase. Children then used a range of techniques and tools to mould the main part of their vase before attaching their handles with a slip and score technique. 

Once their clay had dried, children used their knowledge of colour mixing to create a suitable orange for their base colour.
