Year 4 Spring

Anglo-Saxon Inspired Art

Children will focus on textiles and sculpture in this unit. They will learn about traditional methods of weaving used in Anglo-Saxon times and weave their own piece of cloth.

Children began this unit by learning about the Anglo-Saxon weaving method. They found out what 'warp' and 'weft' meant and looked at some early weaving frames.

They then designed their own plan for their own piece of weaving.

Children used a triangluar weaving frame to weave different coloured wool. They used a weaving needle to pull the wool over and under the warp threads.
