mCLASS is an assessment used to measure the development of reading skills. Each student is tested individually so that the teacher can identify the skills students are internalizing and the skills that need additional support. Testing happens 3 times a year. This allows teachers to modify instruction based upon student mastery. Results for the mCLASS Middle of Year Assessment will be made available to parents mid-January.
Math IAs are a form of assessment used to track the progress of foundational math skills in each respective grade. This allows teachers to hone in on conceptual misunderstandings and craft differentiated lessons. All Math IAs are Common Core-aligned and focus on the most important conceptual understandings needed to be successful in the next grade.
All Winter Break student packets will be virtual. Students will have the opportunity to access materials from prior lessons to get additional at-bats with content. We are so excited to continue our learning partnership with you. It is hard to believe that we are already in December. Our scholars and teachers are working so hard to continue teaching and learning remotely. This week, scholars took an English Language Arts Assessment to measure their progress in ELA. Please feel free to reach out to your scholars teachers for the results. The grade from this assessment will also appear on the Report Cards for Term-2.
As you are aware, we are fully remote, with a tentative date to return to the school building on January 11th. In order to support scholars with their learning, there are many resources you can utilize online. We have listed those resources below.
Fountas and Pinnell (F&P) assessment is used to identify the instructional and independent reading levels of scholars. The instructional reading level allows educators to create targeted instruction to improve scholar reading achievement. The independent reading level allows scholars to have access to books he/she can read independently to improve his/her reading achievement.
i‑Ready Assessment is designed to measure specific grade-level standards. This assessment allows educators to quickly identify when reteaching or remediation is needed for scholars as it relates to specific standards and allows educators to create targeted learning groups to address unfinished learning.
Winter Break packets will be virtual. Students will have the opportunity to access materials from prior lessons to get additional at-bats with content. Additionally, scholars will have access to resources such as IXL for Math and Epic for access to reading books.
