3-5 Instructional Updates
Thank you for your continued partnership! We hope that you were able to enjoy some quality time with your scholar over the Spring Break. April is a busy month for our 3-5 scholars as they will be taking assessments in order to show what they have learned. We are confident that they will show off their brilliance. In addition to testing, scholars will be taking virtual field trips throughout the Spring. The trips will allow them to connect what they are learning in class to outside experiences and learning. Please check into your scholar's virtual classroom for trip dates and other important information.

Click here to review a letter sent this week regarding New York State Tests.
We are writing to give you an update on the 2021-2021 New York State tests (NYST). This year’s NYST will be completely optional for students. Here’s what you need to know:
It is up to your discretion if you would like your child to participate. Typically, under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), 95% of students are required to participate yearly in state assessments; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the requirement is expected to be lifted this year and the New York State Education Department has said that no child should come to school just to take the tests.
There are no consequences for students that do not take the NYST this year. This is true for this year only. We expect to return to normal testing next school year. Please note, we will continue to use our own internal assessments to measure your scholar’s progress and inform our instruction.
NYST administration will begin starting Thursday, April 22. It will occur in person only. If you decide to participate, we will assign your child a specific on-site testing schedule that will be shared by Monday, April 19. Please complete the form linked here with your NYST preference by Friday, April 9. If we do not receive a response, your child will default to one of the following, depending on their learning mode.
