October 20-23

Hello First Grade Families!

We are diving deep into our space research starting next week! The students chose their specific areas of interest this week and can't wait to get started on their research, stories, and projects! Ask your student which group they are in! Our tie-dyes on Tuesday will be a representation of our groups:)

We took our Unit 2 assessment in math this week as well. Next week we will continue working with counting by 5's by making a "sea star" quilt!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

**Tie dying is Tuesday, 10/28. Please send a white, 100% cotton shirt to school on Tuesday if you haven't already!

**We need volunteers! Our class will be tie dying on Tuesday, October 28th from 8:30-11am. Please let me know if you are able to come in for any or all of the time. The sign up sheet to come in and help is here.

Volunteers must have a background check on file with the office. You can find it here. See Ms. Madajewski, or phone the office with any questions.

**First graders will be having a vision screening on Tuesday, November 18th.

**We have snack every afternoon! You may send a peanut-free snack to school with your first grader every day:)

**SASD nurses are launching their own non profit initiative of raising money to provide students in need with vouchers for eye exams and eye glasses if needed. If your student needs assistance with an eye exam or glasses, please let me know and I will forward your information to the school nurse. If you would like to donate, please see the flyer below!

REMINDERS:

School instruction begins at 8:25! Please ensure your student arrives at school before this time. Breakfast is served from 8:05-8:25. If you'd like your first grader to have school breakfast, they must arrive during this time. We clean up breakfast and start our day promptly at 8:25--we have lots to do!

HOME LEARNING went home last week on Friday. Thanks to those who have already finished and returned their binder! If your student hasn't yet handed their binder in, please have them bring it to school on Tuesday!.

Please send an all white, 100% cotton shirt to school on Tuesday if you haven't already! We will be tie dying that day!
