Top Up
Top Up is a program Argyll offers to support students throughout the division who have already taken a course, didn't finish where they hoped, but it doesn't make sense to simply re-enroll for the same results.
Students might have a couple of gaps in their learning and don't need the whole course experience to get through those pieces.
Top Up supports students by giving them the opportunity to reconsider those areas that need their focus.

What makes a student eligible for top-up?
have taken the course to completion once before (has a final grade in that class)
have a quiet space to work at your school and time in their schedule to dedicate to top-up efforts
have technology (desktop, laptop, Chromebook) to use during the school day
What commitments do we need from the student?
turn in work every week
attend scheduled meetings and reply promptly to emails
submit original work and give proper credit to sources
note: if students do not honour the above commitments, they may be removed from the course.
What about Diploma Exams?
if the student is happy with their exam grade & just wants to Top-Up their class grade, they don't have to retake the diploma. Rewrites are all managed through myPass. Weightings are discussed here.
if a student previously took the course and doesn't have a diploma exam grade associated with their final grade, they must take the diploma exam to conclude their Top-up journey.
Argyll students can write in November, January, April, or June. Non-Argyll students must choose their primary school as the writing center, which means waiting for the January or June sitting.
What happens after your AP signs you up?
students will receive a welcome email from their Top Up teacher, which outlines next steps, including the intake process.
we may need to place some students on a waitlist if courses become too full; if this is the case, students and the school contact will receive an email letting them know. Once other students finish, the waitlist will be processed.
