Physical Education classes are a great way to foster a healthy and active lifestyle. Their central theme - daily active living - explores four main concepts; movement activities, health benefits, interacting positively with others and personal responsibility.

Is one of the requirements for an Alberta High School Diploma. Physical Education gives you the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
Are optional courses and involve increased exposure to life-skill activities and leadership experience. The skills developed in these courses help you make choices that lead to an active healthy lifestyle.
Competencies and Current Programs of Study: PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Competencies are combinations of attitudes, skills, and knowledge that students develop and apply for successful learning, living, and working. In school, competencies help students achieve learning outcomes and transfer their learning to new situations. Alberta's curriculum promotes the development of eight competencies, which are a streamlined expression of the competencies identified in the Ministerial Order on Student Learning (#001/2013). The previous are examples that describe home competencies may be expressed within the context of Alberta's current Kindergarten to Grade 12 Physical Education programs of study.

CALM helps you develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for well-being in our rapidly changing society. You will learn to make well-informed decisions in all aspects of your life.

Competencies and Current Programs of Study: K-9 HEALTH & LIFE SKILLS AND HIGH SCHOOL CALM

At Argyll, PE 10 is offered in the same block as CALM, so students still have seven other spaces available in their schedules for other courses. Students would earn 6 credits for this combo, as each course is worth 3 credits here.
If a student only needs PE 10, that is available. If a student only needs CALM, that is available.
