What does a typical day of online learning look like in the synchronous program?

Self-starting and support:

• A high level of parental support and the student's ability to self-start are required.

• Students interact daily with a teacher in a structured learning environment. 

Daily Schedule:

• Teachers are responsible for organizing students’ schedules and monitoring their progress.  

• Students are part of an online class with an assigned teacher. They interact with their teacher and classmates in a structured learning environment. 

• Daily classes include both live, online teacher instruction and activities and assignments that students complete independently. 

Communication and relationship: 

• Student attendance is during every class.

• Learning takes place in whole group video meets (Google Meet) and small group break-out rooms.

• Students are expected to be on camera for classes and secured assessments, as specified by their teacher. 

What does a typical day of online learning look like in the asynchronous program?

Self-starting and support:

• A higher level of parental support and student ability to self-start are required.

• In Grades 1-9 a caregiver at home acts as a learning coach, helping the student schedule their week, stay organized, and provide a quiet and clear workspace.

• Students work through the same curriculum that would normally be covered during regular school hours.
  
  

Flexibility:

• A student's schedule can be adapted for their learning needs. 

• Students enrolled in this program are not restricted to the hours of a ‘regular school day’.

• NEW for Elementary and Junior High in 2025-2026 - Students are required to attend a 1-hour Google Meet each day to support their learning. Regular daily engagement in learning activities will also be used to measure attendance. 

• High School attendance is measured through consistent daily enagement.

• Regular, two-way communication with the teacher is expected. Students can be marked absent.

• Students are expected to be on camera for classes and secured assessments, as specified by their teacher.
