This course starts with COM1005: Visual Composition
Students begin the course with an exploration of Graphic Design using the Elements and Principles of Art. They will use vector and raster editing applications to create stunning graphics and visuals. Later in the course, students will explore a variety of animation techniques. Lastly, students will be introduced to audio and video production. Students will finish the course with a great portfolio of projects and an idea of personal branding.

This course starts with CSE1110: Structured Programming 1
Students begin the course with an introduction to algorithm design and structured programming concepts. They will learn essential programming skills to solve a variety of challenges and problems using Input, Processing, and Output. Later in the course, students will explore standard coding concepts for Web development by building sites from the gound up. the course ends with an introduction to robotics.
Audio 15-25-35 provides students with an opportunity to explore the dynamic and evolving field of audio production. In this course sequence, students use sound engineering tools and processes and audio production technology to support their artistic goals. the emphasis of Audio 15-25-35 is on the development of a repertoire of skills that students can apply in real-life situations. Students acquire audio recording techniques, post-production mixing skills and the ability to connect these technologies and skills to milestones in the history of popular music.
The purpose of Film and Media Art is to provide learning experiences where students investigate, explore, and create film and media art from an artistic perspective. Students will engage in deepening their knowledge of film through the authentic exploration of the medium, Film and Media Art creates the environment through which students engage and explore contemporary and historical art forms, and create art that integrates narrative, technical and artistic elements.
Students discover the world of fashion and develop an understanding of clothing within the context of society. they experiment with upcycling and creative ways to redesign or restore projects. Students develop a broad awareness of textile uses in apparel, home furnishings, commercial furnishings, and industry int he role of the environment in relation to the textile industry. Students even use basic sewing skills and techniques to construct personal accessories.
This course starts with DES1010: Sketch, Draw, & Model and DES1020: The Design
Students begin the course with an introduction to observational sketching, drawing, and modelling using a variety of materials. Students will develop skills to solve problems with the Design Process through the stages of researching, selecting options, generating designs and prototypes, and evaluating their final solutions. Students will work with 2D, 3D, and Computer Aided Design Tools (CAD).
Note: For this course, students need access to sketching and modelling materials, and a mouse for their computer/laptop/chromebook.
This course starts with COM1205: Photography - Introduction
Students begin the course with an exploration of photographic Elements and Principles. They will use internet images as well as their own photographs to describe Elements and Principles common to all artistic mediums. Later in the course, students develop essential skills in camera use with a focus on basic composition and an examination of exposure settings. Lastly, students will explore image editing and post-production techniques to enhance their photographs.
Note: For this course, students need access to a camera with the ability to control aperture and shutter speed setting independently. DSLR cameras are preferred, but most smartphone cameras will produce similar results with variations of these settings.
Students explore diverse Aboriginal history, cultures, and worldviews. They increase their knowledge about the past, present, and future of indigenous peoples, providing an understanding of the diverse Aboriginal cultures within their region, Canada, and the world.
This course starts with HSS1080: Leadership Fundamentals
Therein, students explore basic principles of leadership and evaluate their personal leadership characteristics and qualities. They develop project design and management skills to extend and enhance competencies and skills through contexts that are personally relevant.
Learning strategies is a series of courses designed to assist high school students in developing the understandings, literacies, skills, and values to be successful in learning in all high school subjects and in lifelong learning. Progressively, students gain confidence, realize increased independence, and apply their strategies to other learning contexts.
Students will create art by using a variety of media. They will develop their artistic, technical, and critical skills as they explore visual expression; and they will discover various ways to share their thoughts and ideas with others.
