BC Theatre

Brookfield Central High School Theater Program (BC Theater) is a top-tier, award-winning high school drama program committed to providing students with opportunities to develop their acting, singing, dancing, musical, drama and technical theater skills through course work, live performance, event production and high-quality stage productions. Our aim is to elicit creative self-expression, critical thinking, and artistry through our theater course offerings and stage productions; musicals performed at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center and dramas/comedies in the BC Black Box. As students grow as performers, directors, designers, stage managers, stage technicians, production managers and house managers, we are also committed to producing shows that will continue to delight, entertain and educate audiences.

The BC Theater mission is simple:

“Inspire students, Transform audiences, Provide skills for future success. “

Stated more fully: to inspire students in the theater arts to realize their full potential (the greatness within), develop and deliver the highest standard of theatrical performances (to entertain and transform audiences) – which ultimately provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in future endeavors.”

The BC Theatre program:

§  Provides intense, quality learning and performing opportunities in the production and performing arts.

§  Provides an atmosphere where young people are encouraged to set goals, take risks and view mistakes as an avenue for learning.

§  Surrounds students with a staff of professional artists and non-professionals who serve as mentors and teachers, encouraging our students to commit to a high level of self-expectation.

§  Emphasizes active participation, respect and individual pride of all cast members

§  Creates an awareness that the arts are a constructive vehicle of personal expression.

§  Demonstrates to the public the high level of performing and production arts skills that the students are capable of achieving when given proper training.

The BC Theatre program is very unique, exceptional award-winning program that produces 5 full-scale theatrical productions a year: a full-scale fall musical performed at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, three more productions in the BC Black Box Theater (including a student-run variety show) during the school year and then the season concludes with a full-scale musical production for the Elmbrook Summer Theater Program.
