In August of 2020, Brookfield Central named its new track & field facility, football/soccer/lacrosse field "Harrison-Thomas Stadium" in tribute to two of the greatest Lancers ever who went on to have hall of fame careers in their respective sports. The world class accomplishments of these two distinguished alumni deserve to be celebrated, shared and remembered by all. History will remember these two athletes as being the best at their craft. Brookfield Central is proud to recognize them with this honor.


KENNY HARRISON - CLASS OF 1983

At Brookfield Central

Harrison, a 1983 graduate of BCHS, competed in football, basketball and track.

He holds school records in the long jump (23 feet, 4 inches), high jump (6 feet, 7.5 inches)  and the triple jump. (52 feet, 4.5 inches).  His triple jump of 52 feet, 4.5 inches in 1983 ranked him #2 in the nation and currently stands as the Wisconsin high school #1 all-time triple jump by over 2 feet. He held the Wisconsin State Meet triple jump record of 48’ 6.25” for 22 years from 1983 to 2005.


At Kansas State University

Harrison captured 3 individual titles at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, the most in school history.  He was a 8-time Big 12 Conference individual champion in both indoor and outdoor long jump and triple jump. He holds school records in indoor long jump (26 feet, 9.75 inches) and outdoor long jump and triple jump (26 feet, 11.5 inches and 56 feet respectively).


Olympics

After college, Harrison was the 1991 World Triple Jump Champion, and went on to win the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta with a personal best, American and Olympic record of 59 feet 4 inches. This jump is notable for the fact that it is the longest jump ever with a negative wind reading.  The jump ranks Harrison as the third best triple jumper in history.  Harrison was inducted into the USATF Hall of Fame in 2013.



JOE THOMAS - CLASS OF 2003

At Brookfield Central

Thomas, a 2003 graduate of BCHS, played football, basketball and track for the Lancers. As a track and field athlete he holds school records in the discus (185 feet, 6 inches) and shot put (64 feet, 10.5 inches).  In football, Thomas was named AP Second-team All-State OL, First-team All-State DE and Wisconsin Football Coaches Association First-team All-State DE.


At University of Wisconsin Madison

Thomas went on to play college football for Wisconsin, where he was a 2x First-team All-Big Ten selection in 2005 and 2006, and a Unanimous All-American in 2006.  In 2006 Thomas won the Outland Trophy, awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America.


Cleveland Browns

Thomas was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 3rd pick in the 1st round of the 2007 NFL draft. In his 11 seasons with the Browns, Thomas played 10,363 consecutive snaps (the longest streak since snap counts were first recorded in 1999), was voted to 10 Pro Bowls (2007-2016), 7 First-team All-Pro selections (2009-2011, 2013-2016), 2 Second-team All-Pro selections (2008, 2012), and unanimous NFL  2010’s All-Decade. Regarded as one of the NFL's greatest offensive lineman of all time, particularly noted as one of the best left tackles in NFL history, Thomas is in the Browns Ring of Honor
