This Year’s Erasmus Adventure Begins in Pamplona!
K - 121 - 29 students 10 teachers from different European countries
This year’s Erasmus adventure began in Pamplona with a warm welcome on Monday, 24th of January 2025. Our partners were greeted by the headmistress and deputy headmistress during an opening ceremony where all the schools were introduced. On this special occasion, we hosted students and teachers from Italy (I.T.E.S. "A. Fraccacreta" in San Severo) and Romania (Colegial National Mihai Viteazul from Bukarest), as well as teachers participating in job-shadowing programs from Turkey ("HEPIMIZ BIRIK") and a colleague from Germany (GMS Schreienesch in Friedrichshafen).
Irubide’s staff and students prepared a variety of performances to mark the event, including a stunning piano piece by Hugo Cano, an incredible act by Javier Muñiain, a heartfelt performance by our school choir, and even a traditional Navarrese dance. After a short coffee break, we set out to visit Pamplona’s impressive town hall.
Tuesday was all about language and exploration. Students were given the chance to learn basic Spanish expressions—taught by none other than their peers! Everyone was amazed by how quickly our Romanian and Italian friends picked up Spanish words. In the afternoon, we explored the scenic surroundings of our school, walking along the Arga River. The stroll led us to San Andrés Watermill, where students attended a workshop on sustainable energy sources.

Wednesday was a day filled with unforgettable experiences. We shared the beauty of Navarra’s landmarks with our guests, visiting the charming town of Ujué and the majestic Olite Castle. Later, we delved deeper into sustainability and eco-friendly solutions during a guided visit to CENIFER, the National Reference Center for Renewable Energies. There, students participated in four exciting workshops: solar photovoltaic systems, mini wind power projects, bioclimatic building, and river water filtration.

Thursday took us further into exploring socially conscious and sustainable initiatives. The Erasmus team visited Paris 365, a community meal program center. Later, we worked on summarizing the week’s activities and celebrated with a Bye Bye Party for everyone involved in the Erasmus mobility program. To wrap up the day, we took our teachers out for a traditional pintxo-pote evening, where they had the chance to enjoy Spanish cuisine and experience our lively spirit.

Friday was bittersweet as we prepared to say goodbye. In the morning, students created beautiful souvenirs using the cyanotype technique and enjoyed an escape room adventure in the city. Back at Irubide School, with tears in our eyes, we said our farewells.
